A small party was held with several of her grandchildren and close friends at the Atria on Friday. On Sunday, Sept. 8, at larger celebration was held at the Atria of Lake Forest. Iw as a celebration of Chorpening’s big birthday along with Grandparents and for Grandparents’ Day.
The choir came to sing from First United Methodist Church, which has been Chorpening’s church for nearly 90 years. Lots of close friends also came to celebrate with cake, punch, and pastries.
Chorpening moved to Sanford from Arkansas in her 20’s. She drove a school bus for 23 years in Seminole County. She also enjoyed helping as a pink lady at Central Florida Hospital.
Chorpening credits her long life to a strong faith in God, exercising everyday, and of course lots of buttermilk and chocolate.
• Willie Mae Morgan, of Sanford, turned 105-years-old on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Morgan celebrated with friends at the Healthcare and Rehabilitation of Sanford. She was served cake.
