Opened nearly a month ago, JT’s was the idea of owner Jason Tassinari, who said he was tired of his friends having to get repairs from the “big guys.” After Ace Cycles and Scooters closed, he said, there were few options for local motorcycle repairs.
“With both of those shops gone it leaves a huge void in the Sanford and Seminole area for a mom-and-pop shop,” said Tassinari. “We wanted to give riders another option besides the big guys.”
With this idea Tassinari and his wife Sofia decided to open up their own motorcycle repair shop in Sanford where they hope to deliver better prices than their competitors.
“My passion has always been motorcycles,” said Tassinari. “I looked into it [repairs] and realized it doesn’t need to cost that much.”
The shop, which will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, does all motorcycle service, maintenance, upgrades, and customizations. They can also order parts and accessories.
“We do everything the big stores do, just on a smaller scale,” he said. “It’s sort of a mom-and-pop feel with modern amenities.”
With their motorcycle mechanic Robert Burwell on-hand, the family run business has had a good start by offering lower prices.
“We’ve had a lot of customers come to us to get a second quote,” said Tassinari. “They are liking the price difference and they’re getting a higher level of customer service.”
JT’s Motorcycle Shop will celebrate its grand opening Saturday at its location at 1180 Central Park Dr., Sanford. They plan to have barbecue and giveaways as part of the celebration.
JT’s is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information you can call JT’s at 407-732-6677.
