Bernice Harvey Cotton, 74, of Sanford, passed peacefully on Jan. 15, 2013 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Bernice was born in Albany, Ga. on May 19, 1938, the daughter of John Harvey and Maudie Mae O’Neil. She has lived in the Central Florida area for 40 years. She was a Baptist and member of Christian fellowship Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, sister and friend and member of Sweet harmony No. 388 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her children, Allen Henderson of Sanford, Denise Thomas, Dale Henderson, Sandra Henderson, Cevone Amaro, Jasmeen Henderson, of Sanford, Harriett Williams of Rochester, N.Y., Laquisia Henderson of N.Y.; brothers, Johnnie B. Harvey of Largo, Fla., Harry Harvey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 30 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation for Bernice Harvey Cotton will be held Friday, Jan. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bell Avenue, Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Temple of Praise Church, 2020 McCracken Rd., Sanford, with the Rev. Otis Raines officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sanford.
