In 1976, for 30 years, he coached the SYFA, known as Seminole Youth Football league. He provided many hours mentoring these young men of Seminole County on a week-to-week basis. Yes, he enjoyed working with the youngest who enjoyed and cherished the game of football.
Darryl is affectionately called by the young people, “Coach Britt”. Having committed his time and energy to the game he played while in school. His time donated to train, traveled, gave financial assistance to young people who needed assistance to purchase uniforms and equipment for those who came from single-income families.
His teams have traveled throughout Central Florida and played in several championship bowls. He has received many awards and plaques for his dedication to all the football teams in the football league.
He is indeed proud that he had the grand privilege of coaching his nephew, Jeff Blake in the little league, and Jeff went on to play in the National Football League. Today he is retired. Many of Coach Britt’s players have returned after they’ve grown up under his coaching and they have coached with him in the league.
He not only taught the game but he inspired all of those around him.
Today there is still a need, says Coach Britt, for positive role models in a big demand for pattering and molding our young people’s lives. We extended our thanks to Coach Britt for his dedication and support of our young people.
He and his lovely wife Terry are ardent members of New Life Word Center.
Happy belated birthday, Coach Britton.
