JAMES C. CRUTCHFIELD

James C. Crutchfield, 93, of Sanford, passed away May 16, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital.

He was born in Sylvester, Ga. and lived in Sanford for 65 years. He worked as a custodian and was a member of the Deacon Board at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Annie Johnson of Sanford; brother, Johnny Crutchfield of Ft. Pierce; sisters, Dealba Holloman of Ft. Pierce and Lillie Gavin of Rochester, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Rufus Brooks of Orlando; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 pm. at Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Lewis, Pastor, officiating.

Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary, Sanford, is in charge of all arrangements.

IRIE BELL LAIRD

Irie Bell Laird, 81, passed away May 11, 2010 at the Sanford Health and Rehab. Center.

Irie was born on April 12, 1929 in West Bay to John and Ossa Laird. She was a teacher’s aide. Irie attended New Bethel Church in Sanford when she was able.

Irie is survived by a brother, Angus Laird, Maywood, Fla.; four sisters, Evelyn D. Stonom, Jacksonville; Ollie Stringer, Orlando; Winnie Jean Robinson, Grand Prairie, Texas; China Evans, Tallahassee.

A viewing will be held for her today at the Gramkow Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to noon. A Home Going Service will be held at noon on the same day. She will be laid to rest at the Sylvan Lake Cemetery in Paola

GWENDOLYN STEELE

Gwendolyn Steele, 59, of Sanford, passed away May 14, 2010 at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville.

She was born in Belle Glade, Fla. and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Ethel June of Sanford; daughter, Dawnette Knight of Deltona; brothers, Will E. Steele of Detroit, Maurice Police of Belle Glade, and Charles Steele, Reginald Steele, Alvin Thomas and Tommy Issac, all of Sanford; and sister, Rhonda Steele of Altamonte Springs.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at New Life Word Center Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Life Word Center Church with Dr. R. W. Merthie, Pastor, officiating.

Mitchell & Mitchell Mortuary, Sanford, is in charge of all arrangements.

LILLIE MAE THOMAS

Lillie Mae Thomas, 91, of Sanford, passed away May 15, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital.

She was born March 22, 1919 and worked as an agricultural laborer. She was also a member of the House of Refuge Ministries.

She is survived by her daughters, Anitha Gardner of Sanford and Tammy (Jerome) Chandler of Lake Mary; son, Wilbert Henderson McFadden of Sanford; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the House of Refuge Ministries in Sanford.

Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Homes, Oaklawn Chapel, Sanford, is in charge of all arrangements.
