It was an historic day for the Hagerty High School boys’ wrestling team on Friday at the 2025 FHSAA Dual Team State Wrestling Championships at Osceola High School in Kissimmee.

Led by eight individual weight division champions, the Huskies, under Head Coach Scotty Diaz and Assistant Coach Paul Cuozzo, won their first-ever Regional Championship, 43-25, over Flagler Palm Coast.

Hagerty got off to a fast start in the Class 3A-Region 1 final with a Chase Wolgamuth pin at 108-pounds.

But the Bulldogs took control by winning the next three matches and five of the next seven weight divisions.

That’s when the Huskies started their comeback, winning the next five matches to clinch the title.

In addition to Chase Wolgamuth, other Hagerty individual winners were Aurelio Gonzalez (134), Ben Wolgamuth (146), Nikolas Blake (159), Aiden Wood (167), Gavin Nelson (177), Thomas Thorne (192) and Jude DiCicco (217).

The Huskies’ Dual season came to an end on Saturday in the Final 4, however, as eventual state runners-up Wellington took down the locals, 40-28, despite individual wins from Chase Wolgamuth, Hunter Jessee (128), Ben Wolgamuth, Blake, Josue Batista (159) and Thorne.

The team will get back to the regular season this week to continue preparation for the Traditional State Meet (individuals scoring points against all opponents, not team head-to-head scoring) that will be back in Kissimmee in the Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park in early March.
