Valentine is Back - Poem by Peter Kovarik

Valentine is Back - Poem by Peter Kovarik

Valentine is back!

Make love not war: Hippies 1960s

Spread love on discount: Business commerce in 2024

When Chewy offered Valentine discount for our cats’ litter and Amazon came up with a Valentine deal on toilet paper, I knew a new era of spreading love and peace had arrived. Once the stationary store at Capitol Hill announced special rates on Valentine’s cards and cheap deals on bouquets of red roses, the beginning of the time of brotherly love between the deputies and senators across the aisle was here. You

see love in the misty eyes of congressmen as they congratulate each other on their offers to cut the national budget.

I also expect our grumpy cat Misha to invite his half-brothers into his box, freshly filled with Valentine cat litter.

Where the hippies and their bleeding-heart message failed long time ago, commerce, the proper love broker rich with price-busting, inflation-fighting ideas might just succeed in our time.

So, next time, when the guy with a tattoo and a white beard of Eastern orthodox patriarch cuts in front of your Chevy, reach in the glove compartment for your discounted chocolate bar. But before throwing the chocolate bar in his face, in a soft voice offer the gentleman a compliment and a gentle suggestion: Hon, I love the color of your Lexus, but get out of my way real quick, OK?!

I am still waiting for a good Valentine offer from Beijing that would seal its love relationship with Taiwan. But that might belong to yet another era whose time hasn’t arrived yet.
