Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) recently welcomed Dr. Bahíyyah Maroon as its new Vice President of Mission Impact.
Dr. Maroon brings more than 15 years of experience overseeing programming and policies that have helped social enterprises achieve positive change. She earned a Master’s and Doctorate in Anthropology from the University of California Santa Cruz, and most recently worked at Polis Institute as Chief Executive Officer. She has consulted for the Department of Labor, the Department of Justice, Purpose Built Communities, Orange County Community and Family Services, the Town of Eatonville, Harvard University and Intel Corporation.
“Dr. Maroon's unique blend of personal and professional experiences will elevate our 60-year mission of 'Building Lives That Work,'” said Ed Durkee, President and CEO at GICF. “We’re honored to have her leadership as we continue improving pathways to prosperity and driving lasting positive impact in the communities we serve.”
As one of Central Florida’s largest nonprofit organizations, GICF collects and sells donated merchandise, diverting more than 24 million pounds of clothing and household goods from landfills across Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia and Brevard counties. GICF directly channels 90% of its annual revenue into programs that enable people to secure meaningful employment, achieve personal goals and thrive economically.
