Build-A-Bed Event in Lake Mary to provide 80 Beds to Children in Need

Build-A-Bed Event in Lake Mary to provide 80 Beds to Children in Need

Special to the Herald

The Lake Mary Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in collaboration with Sleep in Heavenly Peace and various community partners, recently hosted a Build-A-Bed Day. This initiative aims to construct 80 beds for children in Seminole County who currently lack a proper place to sleep.

The event took place at 2255 Lake Emma Road in Lake Mary and the crews worked in four shifts.

Community members of all skill levels participated. No prior carpentry experience was necessary, as training and tools were provided on-site. Families, friends and groups were welcomed and joined in the effort to ensure that no child in our community sleeps on the floor.

Community Collaboration:

A humanitarian grant from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made this initiative possible. This event was organized with support from Spring Meadow Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lakeside Methodist Church, Masjid al Hayy, Lake Mary & Oviedo High Schools, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
