The monthly meeting of the Seminole Audubon Society will be held on Sunday, February 9, at 2 pm at the IFAS Extension Education Building, 250 W. County Home Road, Sanford, FL 32773.
Graham Williams of the St. Johns River Water Management District land management will dis cuss the Hal Scott Preserve, home to a population of federally endangered red-cockaded woodpeck ers.
Graham will explain how the population of this bird at the Hal Scott Preserve is monitored and summarize the work that has been done to recover this population from the brink of extirpation.
Their main threat is loss of habitat, the living, old-growth longleaf pines.
