OVIEDO — It’s the end of an era.

In a release from The Master’s Academy on Saturday, the school announced that ultra-successful Boys Basketball Head Coach Reggie Kohn was retiring after 22 years (21 as a head coach).

“It is with mixed emotions that we announces Coach Reggie Kohn, who has been a dedicated member of the TMA Basketball family for the past 11 years, is retiring from coaching and stepping down from his role as Associate AD at The Master's Academy.

“Coach Kohn has been more than just a coach to our athletes – he has been a mentor, role model, and an integral part of shaping the program into what it is today. His commitment, passion, and unwavering support have touched the lives of countless players, families, and coaches alike.

“Over the years, Coach Kohn has built not only successful teams but also a strong community spirit, and his legacy will undoubtedly live on within the TMA Basketball program.

“While we are sad to see him step away from the court, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for his years of service and leadership. We wish him all the best as he enters this exciting new chapter of his life.”

"The last 11 years at TMA have been an incredible journey, and I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together,” said Kohn. “From winning the school's first-ever district championship in 2015 to adding five more district titles after that, reaching the FHSAA Final Four in 2018, and setting a school record this year with 24 wins — it's been an unforgettable ride. More than the trophies and banners, I have been truly blessed to coach so many great players over the years, all of whom have played a role in this journey.

“I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support from the administration, faculty, and families who have stood by me and the basketball program. A special thank you to Dr. Harris and Steve Denny, who hired me back in 2014, for believing in my vision and giving me the opportunity to lead. Their trust and support laid the foundation for all that we have achieved.

“I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to Athletic Director Trevor Berryhill — not only for his leadership and support but for his friendship, which has meant so much to me.

“Though I am stepping away from my role as TMA's basketball coach, I am not stepping away from TMA. With my three kids here as students, our family will continue to bleed black and blue.”

It was also announced that TMA will be promoting Alfredo "Noodle" Williams to the position of Varsity Head Basketball coach.

“I am very excited for Coach Noodle to take the reins of this program, and will work diligently to help him assemble a staff as quickly as we can,” said Berryhill. “He and I are already working on the off-season/summer schedule and he will get that out to everyone once it is complete.”

"I am also incredibly excited for the future of TMA basketball under the leadership of Alfredo "Noodle" Williams,” said Kohn. “Coach Noodle played for me (at Lake Howell) years ago and has been by my side as a coach here at TMA. He is a true players' coach, someone who not only understands the game but knows how it should be taught. I truly believe the program could not be in better hands. He is going to do a phenomenal job leading the next chapter of TMA basketball.”

Kohn, a record-setting point guard at Lake Howell and the University of South Florida who was inducted into the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame last year, leaves coaching after 22 years, posting a 491-127 record (105-20 at Lake Howell, 162-25 at Orlando Christian Prep, 224-82 at TMA).

In four years at Lake Howell (2004-2007) he led the Silver Hawks to three Final 4s, including a State Championship in 2007.

Kohn then moved to OCP and in just six season (2008-14) the Warriors won four state titles, was the state runners-up once and went to the state semifinals in the other season.
