Well, wasn't that special? We got to watch, live, the President of the United States of America and his wingman, the Vice President of the United States of America, gang up on an invited guest, in this case, the President of Ukraine.
Zelensky made the mistake of trying to explain to Trump what a bad guy Vladimir Putin is, how he can't be trusted, how he does not honor signed agreements. Trump and Vance were having none of that, they didn't want to hear bad things said about Russia's leader, they want to make nice with him and bring him to the table to sign a cease fire in place.
The last straw was when Zelensky tried to warn Trump that if Putin got his way in Ukraine it would not be long before the United States would feel his wrath. That did it, Trump said Zelensky didn't have the right to tell him how he or the United States would feel.
Zelensky was lectured on how ungrateful he was, how much aid America had given to his country and on and on, right there on national television. Then the President of Ukraine was kicked out of the White House, supposedly by our head diplomat, Marco Rubio.
In his fury, Trump resembled the Queen of Hearts. "Off with his head" was the message. If someone, deranged or otherwise, kills Zelensky, that is okay with America.
The basket case, Lindsay Graham, chimed in and said he had supported Ukraine for years and has even been there, something that Vance has not done, and that he was appalled at what Zelensky said.
Trump's main selling point is that Ukraine has wasted the support given by our country, resources that MAGA types think could have been better used domestically.
When you add up the supposedly billions we have sent their way, you see the following:
Abrams tanks, first produced in 1979.
Bradley fighting vehicles, first produced in 1981
F-16 aircraft, first produced in 1976
If we are counting the above in the billions sent, that is false accounting. All of that stuff is junk in this day of drone warfare.
To really sum it all up, being extremely affectionate with Vladimir Putin's posterior, is not going to end this war on terms favorable to western democracies.
