Sanford Police Arrest Suspect in 2022 Homicide

Sanford Police have arrested Thallas Jerome Inman, Jr., in connection with a 2022 homicide investigation.

On Mar 25, 2025, the Sanford Police Department arrested Thallas Jerome Inman Jr. in connection with a shooting that occurred on Nov 20, 2022, at the Hatteras Sound Apartments off S White Cedar Rd.

Police who responded to the incident found Isaiah Ezrah Diaz, 18, dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a bullet-riddled vehicle, while one other person was hospitalized but survived.

While the investigation into Diaz’s death has uncovered that multiple gunmen were involved in the shooting, according to surveillance footage of the scene found by police, Inman was identified as one of the people on the scene. On Mar 24, the State Attorney’s Office and Sanford Police issued a warrant for Inman’s arrest on the grounds of First Degree Premeditated Homicide Murder.

At the time of his arrest on Mar 25, Inman was already in custody at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility for an unrelated Premeditated First Degree Murder case, along with multiple attempted homicide charges, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a firearm, and grand theft auto, among other charges.

Regarding Inman’s arrest, Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith stated, “While we cannot bring Isaiah back to his family, we do hope that this arrest is a step towards healing for Isaiah’s family.  Our Investigators have continued to work every lead on this case, determined that the perpetrators face justice. They will continue to do so in order to ensure all of those involved in taking Isaiah from his loved ones will be held accountable.”

The homicide investigation is still ongoing. Investigators ask that anyone with information on the homicide or any details regarding the location of the remaining suspects contact the Sanford Police Department (407-688-5070), contact Crimeline at 800 423-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimeline.org. Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous, and tips to Crimeline that lead to solving homicides are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 dollars.
