SANFORD — If you want to get a taste of the past and a glimpse of the future for Sanford sports, the Tim Raines Sports Park on the corner of 13th Street (Celery Avenue) and Mellonville Avenue will be the place to be this weekend.
Today (Saturday), The City of Sanford Parks and Recreation Department Youth Spring Flag Football and Soccer Leagues will be in action at The Jeff Triplett Community Center, highlighted by the 12-to-14 year old Flag Football League playing its final day of the regular season.

* The Youth Flag Football Fall League _ 5-to-8 year olds: Alaskan Ice Bills vs. CPH Eagles, 9 a.m.; Sanford Herald Cowboys vs. Sanford Elks 1241 Bengals, 9 a.m.; Waggin & Braggin Ravens vs. Thermotane Propane Jaguars, 10 a.m.; 9-to-11 year olds: Texas Roadhouse Lions vs. Airport Lanes Cowboys, 10 a.m.; Dani Mini O's Dolphins vs. Card My Yard Bucs, 11 a.m.; Waste Pro Chiefs vs. Harrell & Beverly Eagles, 11 a.m.; Waste Pro Jaguars vs. Senoj Enterprise Ravens, noon; 12-14 year olds _ Del-Air Lions vs. Steak n' Shake Chiefs, noon; Dani Mini O's Dolphins vs. Hollerbach’s Bucs, 1 p.m.

But the biggest event on the weekend is the top four finishing teams in The City of Sanford Parks and Recreation Department Adult Spring Flag Football Spring Season playing their tournament on Sunday.

Semifinals
2 p.m. _ No. 2 seeded Backyard Elite (6-1) vs. No. 3 seeded Wasted Talent (5-2).
3 p.m. _ No. 1 seeded Rum Runners (7-0) vs. No. 4 seeded Subzero - Oblivion (4-3).
Championship
4 p.m. _ Semifinal winners.
Everyone is invited to watch the games for free (but you might want to bring a lawn chair).
