The Hagerty High School baseball team (25-4-1) bounced back from a 4-0 setback in game two of its best-of-3 Regional Quarterfinal Series with West Orange (20-9), easing past the Warriors, 14-3, to clinch a spot in the Class 7A-Region 1 Semifinals beginning tonight (Wednesday).
The Huskies will be joined in the semifinals by Orangewood Christian (17-9), which hosted St. Francis Catholic (21-7) in Class 1A-Region 2 on Monday and Tuesday, with the ‘if necessary’ game three set for Thursday in Gainesville, and Winter Springs (25-4) in Class 5A-Region 2, which will host Wesley Chapel (14-12) starting tonight (Wednesday). Games 2 and 3 in Classes 5A and 7A would be Thursday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, Lacrosse is also down to the Regional Semifinals, with the girls having played on Tuesday, with Lake Mary (16-3) hosting Tocoi Creek (9-8) in Class 2A-Region 1 and Hagerty (15-5) hosting WInter Park (14-7) and Oviedo (12-6) hosting Lake Howell (14-6) in 2A-Region 2. The winners would advance to Friday’s Regional Championship Game.
In the boys, 2-time defending state champion and undefeated Lake Mary (17-0) is the only local team remaining as the Rams will host Viera (15-5) tonight (Wednesday) on Doug Peters Field at Don T. Reynolds Stadium starting at 7 p.m. LMHS would also host the Finale on Saturday with a win.
