SANFORD — A boom was heard over Lake Monroe on Wednesday as Cannon Asdot guided Plan B to the overall and Displacement Boat victory in the April 30 Malibu Rum Race sponsored by Filomena’s Pizzeria.
The LMSA also contested the Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race last Sunday (April 27), but the results had not been posted as of print time.
Asdot and Plan B finished 59-seconds ahed of Patti Miller on Fleur de Mer III with Show Me and Andy Forrest 2:44 behind.
Following the racing, all of the competitors and fans moved over to Filomena’s for an evening of awards and social time.

* Saturday, May 17 _ 37th Trans-Monroe Regatta, sponsored by Laguna Marine Services. Come and test your navigation and sailing skill in this annual circumnavigation of the lake. Skippers meeting is at 10:30 a.m. Following the race, there will be a bar-b-que and awards on the Clubhouse lawn. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall, using Portsmouth ratings, with the winner receiving the Bill McVay perpetual trophy.
