Lutheran Haven is so pleased to celebrate the 107th birthday of Carl Roth with family and friends and what a pleasure to hear about his amazing life and career. While in the military, Carl worked for the Naval Research Laboratory on satellite development and later went on to work at NASA during the 1960’s for the Apollo Space Program. He managed the ground station which monitors all aspects of what it takes for successful launches. He continually communicated critical data from Telemetry to Mission Control toward the safety of many missions in space.
Carl and his wife have 4 children who were raised mostly in the Cocoa area of Florida which gave them a front row seat to history! In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, and his daughter says they had a beautiful, tropical backyard with numerous fruit trees and vegetables. He also enjoyed woodworking and learned to cane chairs. He refinished a chair for each of his children which they treasure.
Carl continues to live independently at the Landings of Lutheran Haven and has since 2019. He states, “I appreciate my handicap-accessible apartment, a wonderful medical clinic down the hallway, a kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and wonderful friends.” Carl fully supports the “aging in place” philosophy. He loves his unique living style as a centenarian for seven years!
Thank you, Carl, and happy 107th birthday. We are so glad you are a part of the Haven family. Our remarkable space missions of today stand on the shoulders of your remarkable life.
