Brothers in Cuffs
Sanford police responded to a domestic violence call at 1810 Landing Dr., Apartment E., on May 4 in Sanford. A woman reported an argument with her boyfriend that turned physical, which ended with her being pushed into a mop bucket containing bleach. While officers were speaking to the boyfriend, his younger brother exited the home and began shouting racial slurs directed at the officers. The brother became aggressive, telling one officer he was going to punch him in the mouth. After the threat, the officer tried to put the brother under arrest, but he attempted to run back into the apartment. The officer was able to push into the apartment and arrested the brother. After his brother was taken away, the man was interviewed and denied pushing the woman into the bucket. Deshawn Earl Williams, 26, of Sanford, was charged with domestic violence related battery. Raynard Respess, 18, of Sanford, was charged with resisting an officer without violence and threatening a law enforcement officer.
Prolific Offender
A Seminole County deputy was traveling on the intersection of Mullet Lake Park Road and State Road 46 in Geneva on May 4 when he recognized a man driving a GMC pickup truck that he recognized from prior encounters. Aware that the man hadn’t been in possession of a driver’s license since 2018, the deputy conducted a traffic stop. While the deputy approached the vehicle, the man began to throw items out of the vehicle’s window which were later determined to be a fentanyl-filled syringe, two bags of meth and a glass pipe filled with meth. The man was determined to have two prior adjudications for driving with a suspended license, with two of his suspensions being for driving under the influence. The man was noted to be a prolific offender with a score of 40 and is presently out on bond in Seminole County for two separate drug cases. Matthew Kenneth Yanesh, 33, of Geneva, was charged with possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and tampering with physical evidence.
Strike a pose… for your mugshot
A Seminole County deputy was conducting stationary traffic control at Hagerty High School in Oviedo on May 3 when he spotted a female driver texting while driving. The deputy then stopped her and requested her driver’s license and other standard information. As the driver searched for her license, the officer noticed her concealing a standard driver’s license in her wallet, but she presented him with an under 21 learners license. The officer then asked to see the concealed license, which the driver said was a fake ID she wasn’t going to use. After being read her rights, she revealed that she asked a friend to order the fake ID so she could participate in a 21 and older photo shoot. Shatavia Amair Ervin, 19, of Kissimmee, was charged with possession of a fake drivers license.
Runaway Bike
An Altamonte Springs police officer was patrolling the area of East Altamonte Drive and Boston Avenue on May 2 when he saw a male bicyclist with no rear red light and an unmounted white light traveling on the sidewalk. The officer conducted a traffic stop, ordering the man to stop. The bicyclist instead continued on to Forest Avenue, Holly Avenue and Newburyport Avenue, where the officer lost sight of him. The officer relayed this information over his radio, leading to another officer finding the man still on Newburyport Avenue. The man claimed he did not hear the officer and was on his way to his home in Geneva. Danny Lee Mobley, 56, of Geneva, was charged with fleeing police with lights and siren active, resisting an officer without violence and a violation for operating the bike without the required lights.
