Ritz Theater offers Thrilling Events in May

May is filled with thrilling events at the Ritz Theater in Sanford.  Laugh out loud with the classic sci-fi comedy Spaceballs on May 15. Celebrate music and pride with the Orlando Gay Chorus 35th Anniversary Concert on May 16. Then enjoy a lively afternoon with the talented Sanford Jazz Ensemble during their Spring Concert on May 18. Plus, test your luck at Bingo at Dee’s Brewery on May 27. There’s something for everyone this May at the Ritz.

 

 

 

 

Spaceballs

Thursday, May 15 at 7:30PM

In partnership with the City of Sanford. $5 cash/credit at the door. Theater members receive free Ritz Flix admission. Set in a distant galaxy, the story follows Lone Starr and his trusty sidekick, Barf, as they embark on a quest to rescue Princess Vespa from the clutches of the evil Dark Helmet. As the summer heat rises, "Spaceballs" delivers a mix of slapstick humor, witty satire, and clever references to sci-fi tropes. The film's iconic moments, including the memorable "Ludicrous Speed" scene and the hilarious Spaceball One spaceship, keep audiences entertained and laughing throughout. Orlando Gay Chorus 35th Anniversary Spring Concert

Friday, May 16, 7:30 p.m.

Returning to the Ritz Theater, the Orlando Gay Chorus will enchant you with “Why We Sing” and “Over the Rainbow,” peppered with crowd favorites, such as “You Can’t Stop the Beat” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” and introduce new songs added to our repertoire to launch OGC into the future for another 35 years and beyond.

 

 

 

Sanford Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert 

Sunday, May 18, 3 p.m.

As the vibrant blooms unfold, filling the air with their sweet fragrance, love seems to permeate every corner. And where there’s love, there’s music—a timeless companion that accompanies us on life’s journey. From the classic Broadway hit “It Might as Well Be Spring” by Richard Rodgers to Barry White’s soulful “Love’s Theme” from Detroit, melodies weave their magic. Now, the Sanford Jazz Ensemble, a collective of exceptionally talented local musicians and vocalists, invites you to an enchanting spring musical experience.

 

 

 

Ritz Charity Bingo

Tuesday, May 27, 7 p.m., Have fun and support the Ritz Theater at our monthly Bingo held at Dees Brother's Brewery across the street from the theater. We have fun prizes, a 50/50, and of course, great food/drinks are available for purchase. We play 4 rounds of regular bingo and one 50/50 game. The price for the regular games is $20 for 24 bingo cards (you can play as many cards as you like in each game). The 50/50 bingo cards are sold separately for $5 each.
