SANFORD — The beautiful weather of late seems to have enticed the sailors of the Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) to come out of hibernation as seven boats took part in the Mat edition of the 2025 Members Club Race Series for the Hayden Trophy and 12 craft and crew took part in the May 14 Wednesday Malibu Rum Race sponsored by Filomena's Pizzeria.
Jim White and crew aboard Bad JuJu got off to a low start in the Members Club Race on Saturday, May 10, coming home third behind Fleur de Mer III and Olivier Fleury and Wicklow Way under Rich Gailey in the first race of the day.
But “Bad” JuJu turned good, winning the final two races to total five points for the day to edge Fleur de Mer III and Wicklow Way, with six and seven points, respectively.
The Wednesday Malibu Rum Race then saw Mindy Strauley take over the helm of Fleur de Mer III, which cruised to a decisive 3-minute-plus victory over UV and Ray Laguna and 4-minutes over Plan B under Cannon Asdot.
