The Sanford River Rats are set to launch their summer season in the Florida Collegiate Summer League with a spectacular Opening Day celebration at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium, located at 1201 S. Mellonville Avenue,  Sanford. The excitement begins on May 29 with a pre-game tailgate party from 5 to 7 p.m., leading up to the first pitch at 7 p.m. against the Leesburg Lightning.

The Opening Day tailgate party promises fun for all ages. Attendees can enjoy a variety of food trucks, live music sponsored by Axis Promotions and The West End Trading Company, and a dedicated Kids Zone sponsored by Ladies327, Inc. This event marks the beginning of the Sanford Sizzlin' Summer campaign, a collaborative effort by Sanford Main Street and The Sanford Chamber of Commerce to highlight the city's vibrant summer attractions.

"Opening Day is always a special occasion," says Stefano Foggi, President of the Florida Collegiate Summer League. "The River Rats provide a fantastic family-friendly experience while offering a chance to see some of the best college baseball talent in the country, right here in Sanford.  We are so thankful for the continued support of the Sanford community and are thrilled to be a part of the Sanford Sizzlin' Summer campaign as we enter our 22nd season."

The Sanford River Rats are a member of the Florida Collegiate Summer League, a 501(c)(3) non-profit college summer baseball league that offers exciting baseball action throughout the summer.

Tickets for the Opening Day game are priced at $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, military veterans and children (age 7-12), and FREE for children 6 and under. Tickets will go on sale by May 21 and can be purchased at FloridaLeague.com.
