The 23rd New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival takes place this year from May 30 through June 1, with 24 venues, 14 of them along Flagler Avenue Historic District and the remaining on 3rd Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and Canal Street Historic District.
This year’s line-up will showcase four new acts, CuBop, Derek Harris and the 8th Note Collective, Joe Fritz Trio and Daytona State College Jazz Band. Three favorite acts return after several years absence, The Valerie Gillespie Ensemble, Ella and The Bossa Beat Duo and Ben Prestage. They join favorites, Linda Cole, Thom Chambers, James Hall, Sybil Gage, Tony Wynn, Daniel “Saxman” Fuqua and Jeff Rupert. Jeff’s special guest this year is Grammy nominated McClenty Hunter on drums. Also appearing are Beautiful Bobby Blackmon, Cigano Swing, Bobby Koelble, Dave Capp & France Neil, Jordan Cole Trio, Eddie Marshall and Richard Drexler Duo, Roberto Carlo, Pat D’Aguano and local favorite Joe Young IV.
