The Seminole County Democratic Party (SemDems) recently hosted its fourth major protest event of the year in a rally titled “Stand Up for Democracy.” The demonstration took place along South Highway 17-92, near Casselberry City Hall and Target, 4255 S. Hwy 17-92, Casselberry.
This public rally is a call to action for voters across Seminole County and beyond to stand in solidarity for democratic values and against what organizers call an alarming abuse of power by President Donald Trump.
The rally was a peaceful and visible demonstration, showing that voters are not powerless in the face of rising political and economic instability.
“People don’t want to feel helpless,” said Deborah Poulalion, Vice Chair of the SemDems and logistics coordinator for the event. “We are gathering in solidarity, in community, to stand up for our democracy.”
This is the fourth such demonstration organized by the SemDems this spring. Their “Hands Off” rally in Sanford drew approximately 1,000 people on April 5, quickly followed by the Cory Mills: “Do Your Job! Peaceful Protest” in Lake Mary on April 19 and the “May Day” demonstration in Oviedo to support worker rights.
