New Oviedo Police Officers Sworn In and Pinned

New Oviedo Police Officers Sworn In and Pinned

The Oviedo Police Department officially welcomed two new officers to its ranks today as Christopher St. John and William Riddleberger were sworn in during a ceremony in the Oviedo City Council Chambers.

Officers St. John and Riddleberger were sworn in and pinned at 10:30 a.m., with the oath administered by Police Chief Dale Coleman.

“Law Enforcement is an honorable career, but can be a challenging one as well,” said Chief Coleman. “I look forward to watching them both grow and develop in their roles. Our officers support one another, and they are joining a strong team.”

Christopher St. John is originally from New Jersey, but has lived in Oviedo for 30 years. He was with the Orlando Police Department for 23 years before retiring. He wanted to work for the Oviedo Police Department and come back to policing to serve the community where he lives. His son Justin, who is also looking at a potential career in law enforcement, pinned St. John after he was sworn in.

William Riddleberger grew up in North Carolina and after high school, he joined the Marines. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California, where he served for four years, before coming to Central Florida. He went through the Oviedo Police sponsorship program and was pinned by his wife, Grace. They both enjoy spending time off at Disney.

The ceremony was attended by family, friends, fellow officers, command staff, and city employees, all there to celebrate and welcome the new officers.
