It is with deepest sorrow I tell you the passing of Boo Boo after battling G.I. Stasis.
As you know Boo Boo made thousands of people and seniors especially worldwide smile. He was a wellness bunny trained to sit on my shoulder as I sang and did my show for hundreds of assisted living and retirement homes from the Carolina’s to Florida. We appeared on FOX TV and in many publications and media.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Sanford Herald for the wonderful articles published about Boo and I.
My show will go on even though my trusted companion is no longer here but in spirit. The Show titled, “Bruce and Boo Show” - A tribute has done 51 shows so far and is still making seniors smile.
ESA (Emotional Support Animal) Bunnies are very important and are helping seniors with Alzheimers and Dementia, not to mention just plain loneliness.
The day, July 10, was the day we decided to bring him to a local Veterinary clinic and discuss euthanasia. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing since we had Boo Boo at 3 months old.
We thanked the Dr. for all she did and turned to walk to the car. That was the longest walk that my girlfriend, Sharon (Boo Boo’s mom), and I have ever taken.
Once home the doctor texted us to say that Boo Boo passed quietly just after she gave his gas to put him to sleep. That procedure is before the shot to stop his heart. To her amazement his little heart stopped on his own before she just was getting ready to euthanize him.
Boo Boo would have been 10 this past July 4. He passed away on June 10.
I have tears as I write this, but Boo Boo headed to the Rainbow Bridge and hopefully one day we will meet again.
In Boo Boo’s memory I am working on a movie treatment called, “If Only Rabbits could talk,” about a magical bunny and a singer who travel to an assisted living place called “Magical Oaks.” Suddenly all the residents start to feel young again.
