YMCA of Central Florida is hosting its second annual Healthy Family Day event on Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all 14 Family Centers. This free, community-wide event invites families to explore what the Y has to offer through hands-on activities, interactive demos, and experiences for every age.
Healthy Family Day offers attendees a variety of interactive games and activities including wellness workshops and health tips, a preview of the Y’s fall youth sports leagues, small group personal training demos, and special offers that promote healthy habits year-round.
“We look forward to once again hosting Healthy Family Day to inspire parents and kids to include healthy activities together as part of their back-to-school routine," said Kevin Bolding, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Florida. "This free event is another way the Y is helping to build a stronger, healthier, community for all."
As part of this year’s event, the organization is introducing a new name for its Child Development program, the drop-off childcare program for YMCA members to take advantage of while at a Family Center. "The Play Center” more clearly reflects what the program truly offers — a space that fosters early learning through play and supports the YMCA’s commitment to whole-family wellness.
“We’re excited to launch a new name for our drop-in childcare that does more than just supervise — it sparks imagination, builds connections, and supports whole-child development through the power of play, said Michelle Foley, district vice president of youth development-early learning at the YMCA of Central Florida. “At The Play Center, every moment is an opportunity to learn, explore, and grow in a safe and joyful environment.”
