SCSO Detectives are actively investigating a sexual battery that occurred earlier today in unincorporated Altamonte Springs.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., a female victim was walking northeast along the Seminole Wekiva Trail near the intersection of State Road 434 and Douglas Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male who had an electric scooter in his possession. The suspect dragged the victim toward the woodline of the trail. A nearby citizen heard her cries for help, located her, and immediately called 911.
The suspect is described as a thin Black male in his mid-20s, between five feet seven inches (5’7”) and six feet (6’0”) tall, with short eye-level hair twists. He was last seen wearing a white ball cap, athletic shorts, and may have initially been wearing a red shirt, though he fled shirtless. Detectives are working to obtain surveillance footage and are asking residents and businesses in the area to check their cameras for anyone matching this description.
There will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area while the investigation continues. The Sheriff’s Office reminds all individuals walking, jogging, biking, or exercising outdoors to stay alert and aware of their surroundings.
