LAKE MARY TO HONOR PETERS

Lake Mary High School and the Lake Mary Athletic Booster Club are proud to announce the official dedication of the newly renovated Don T. Reynolds Stadium (655 Longwood Lake Mary Road) field in honor of legendary coach and athletic director, Doug Peters. The ceremony will take place on Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. at the Lake Mary High School Stadium.

The celebration will mark the completion of a $700,000 project to replace the stadium turf and track — part of a continued commitment to providing top-tier athletic facilities for Lake Mary student-athletes. The upgraded field will now bear the name Doug Peters Field, a lasting tribute to a man whose career has defined Ram athletics for more than four decades.

The dedication ceremony will take place at halftime of Friday’s football game against Miami-Norland, with alumni, former players, and community members invited to join in the celebration. The event will include special recognitions, presentations, and a ceremonial unveiling of Doug Peters Field.

UCF WOMEN’S SOCCER

Senior newcomers Liz Worden and Rajanah Reed each found the back of the net in the first half en route to leading UCF women’s soccer to a 2-1 win over UAB in the season opener on Thursday night at PNC Field.

The victory marked UCF’s sixth straight win on Opening Knight, as the Black and Gold’s last setback in a season opener came in 2019.

Perez Watson was credited with a trio of saves in goal to help UCF pull out the win.

   Up Next:

UCF MEN’S SOCCER

After winning a pair of preseason exhibition contests, the new-look UCF men’s soccer team is set to kick off the 2025 fall slate on the road against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday.

The Black and Gold bring a roster consisting of 12 returners from the 2024 campaign and 17 newcomers into the new season, with their returning corps led by former Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year selection Clarence Awoudor, redshirt sophomore Drew Hansen and senior goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and will be streamed on ESPN+.
