Seminole County Legal Aid is reminding the community that free legal

services are available for those who need help preparing for the future.

Through the Planning Ahead program, income-eligible seniors, veterans and survivors of domestic violence in Seminole County can receive legal assistance with:

• Health Care Surrogates

• Living Wills

• Simple Wills

•Powers of Attorney

These essential documents allow individuals to make their wishes known and protect

their legal rights before a crisis occurs, whether related to health, finances, or end-of-life care.

“Planning for the future is one of the most important steps a person can take to protect their loved ones and their peace of mind,” said Evan Greene, Staff Attorney with Seminole County Legal Aid. “We offer these services at no cost to those who are eligible because everyone deserves the dignity of choice and control over their affairs.”

The Planning Ahead program serves low-income residents of Seminole County who are over 60 years old, have served in the military, or are victims of domestic violence.

Eligible individuals can receive assistance drafting and executing the legal documents needed to:

• Appoint someone they trust to make healthcare or financial decisions.

• Clearly state medical treatment preferences

• Ensure their wishes are respected in the event of illness, incapacity, or death.
