City of Oviedo 16th Annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament

 

The City of Oviedo’s annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament recently teed off at the Twin Rivers Golf Club to raise money for charity.

The annual golf charity is sponsored by the City of Oviedo and Waste Pro, with the program being organized by the Recreation and Parks Department. The golf tournament raises money for Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society, Helpful Hands and the Veterans Tribute in Center Lake Park.

This is the 16th year the City has held the golf tournament and golfers teed off at 8:30 a.m. The tournament was approximately four hours and holes are sponsored by various local businesses. Each player received a breakfast, full hot lunch, beverages, a full 18 holes of golf and a swag bag with vouchers, coupons and more.  Players were provided with golf carts and power packs.  There was also an opportunity for silent and live auction bids for high-value items.

The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life raise money to help find a cure for cancer, as well as, connect patients to programs and services.  Helpful Hands is a local, Oviedo-based charity that helps children in crisis and provides quality-of-life programs for children and families through athletics, camps, fine arts and holiday programs.  The Veterans Tribute honors active, retired and fallen soldiers with connections to Oviedo.

Funds raised from the tournament was presented to the American Cancer Society and Helpful Hands at the City Council meeting.
