ABOUT 63 WORLD MISSION SOCIETY CHURCH OF GOD VOLUNTEERS UNITE FOR A CLEANER, GREENER COMMUNITY

More than 60 volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God recently gathered early in the morning to clean a 1.4 mile stretch along East Lake Mary Boulevard. Despite it being Labor Day weekend, volunteers enthusiastically worked together to collect 32 bags of litter, including plastic bottles, bags, food wrappers, tires, and cigarette butts. This initiative was part of the Church of God’s ongoing national and international efforts to protect the environment and serve local communities. The Church of God has organized multiple cleanups in Sanford, and this event focused on East Lake Mary Boulevard to ensure neighbors can enjoy a cleaner, well-maintained environment.

Volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God gathered for a community clean-up, reflecting their long-term mission to share a “mother’s love” with the world. Just as a mother does everything for her children, the Church of God members devote their time and energy to volunteer services—today’s clean-up being one example of their love in action.

The volunteers joyfully continue their efforts in maintaining Sanford by expanding to a new location with the goal to spread positivity throughout the city. Armed with trash bags, gloves, and bright smiles, within one and a half hours, they collected 1,069 pounds of litter, including bottles, used tires, and other debris tossed alongside the road.

On a weekend typically reserved for rest, the volunteers demonstrated their commitment by dedicating their Labor Day morning to improving the community. Their efforts highlight the value of service and the Church of God’s continued work to protect the environment.

Community members expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ efforts, recognizing that even small actions can create lasting change. The Church of God carries out these environmental cleanups with the understanding that the earth is suffering from severe pollution and the growing effects of climate change. While one cleanup may seem small, together these efforts add up to a powerful movement — like turning back the clock to give the earth a chance to recover.

Volunteerism is central to the mission of the Church of God, which focuses on these social services: environmental protection, disaster relief, blood donations, social welfare, quality education and promoting mankind’s harmony. The Church of God has conducted more than 8,931 environmental protection activities worldwide, as well as ongoing disaster relief and humanitarian aid efforts.

Through each event, the members hope the community experiences the warmth of a mother’s love—a love that is unconditional, uplifting, and devoted to making the world a better place.
