Approximately 350 protesters recently lined U.S. Highway 17-92 to demand workers over billionaires. Waving signs, chanting, and cheered on by constant honks from passing cars, the crowd turned a rainy morning into a powerful show of solidarity.
“This is our eighth major protest since we started on April 5 with the Hands Off demonstration in Sanford,” said Deborah Poulalion, Vice Chair of the Seminole Democratic Party. “This is a community-wide movement, and we welcome everyone. We’ve even started making signs that say, ‘I’m a Republican standing up for democracy.’”

Andrew Lisa, Chair of the Seminole Democratic Party, added: “Floridians are angry about working-class people being left behind while Trump cozies up to billionaires. This protest is about standing up to disastrous Republican policies that will wreck the economy and hurt all of us.”
Breana Skiles, Co-Chair of the Seminole Democratic Party, Resistance Committee, said: “Our goal is to provide a safe, peaceful place for those in Seminole County who feel unheard, empowering them to stand up to repression of all kinds while also bringing our community together."

Organizers say the rally proves the movement is growing and that Florida is ready to fight back for fairness, justice, and democracy.

The Seminole County Resistance Committee is planning its next event on October 18 at Howell Branch and 436.
