Mary Boone McIntosh Obituary

Mary Boone McIntosh, age 94, of Sanford, Florida, died on September 17, 2025. Mary was born in Greenville, South Carolina on December 9, 1930, daughter of Martha Edith Freeman Boone and Robert Warren Boone. Mary graduated from high school in Savannah, Georgia, in 1948. She attended Stetson University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and where she met her husband, Kenneth William McIntosh. She graduated in 1952 with a B.A. in Education before teaching elementary school in Savannah. In 1954 Mary and Ken married, and the couple moved to Augsburg, Germany, where Ken served as a U.S. Army Infantry lieutenant. There they welcomed their first son. After completing his service, they moved to Sanford, Florida, where they raised their four children, and where Ken began his law practice at Stenstrom, Davis, & McIntosh. Mary was an active member of First Baptist, Central Baptist, and Westview Baptist Churches in Sanford, where she taught Sunday School for decades.

In addition to facilitating the many academic and athletic pursuits and extra-curricular activities of her children, Mary supported the civic leadership contributions of her family. She also was a long-time member of the Ixora Garden Club of Sanford.

Mary loved nothing more than welcoming family and friends to their home on the banks of the St. Johns River. For many years her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren enjoyed the beauty of nature in that beloved spot.

Mary is survived by her husband, Kenneth William McIntosh; daughter, Martha Halliwell McIntosh; sons, Robert Kenneth McIntosh (Donna), Daniel Freeman McIntosh (Elizabeth), Mark Stephen McIntosh (Rosana); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  A fund in her honor has been established at Seminole State College.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://seminolestate.app.neoncrm.com/forms/donate.  Arrangements were handled by DeGusipe Funeral Home.
