SANFORD — The Lake Monroe Sailing Association finally caught a break when Mother Nature decided to move its daily afternoon thunderstorms a little more to the West and away from the Sanford for the first time in awhile, giving the local club a chance to get in a good night of Goslings Rum Race action in on Wednesday, followed by an amazing sunset and awards ceremony.

It was Jim White piloting Bad JuJu to the overall and Planing Boat victory over Displacement Boat winner Gen 4, under Fisk Hayden, while Rich Bailey directed Wicklow Way to a third place finish in the eight-boat field.

Unfortunately, Black Jack Bill was unable to take the green flag because of pre-race problems, including a hull full of water and mechanical difficulties.

   Here are the results:

LMSA CLUB RACE

Last Saturday (July 13), the LMSA held Race #5 of the 2024 Members Club Race Series, sponsored by Sanford Brewing, for the Hayden Trophy and once again, inclement weather limited the event to just one race of the normal three on the day.

Still, the competition was exciting with Steve Hayden captaining Gen 4 to first place Overall and in Displacement Boat, followed by Andy Forrest on Show Me and Richard Gailey, at the helm of Wicklow Way, and Fleur De Mer III, with Olivier Fleury at the tiller.
