Seminole County recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for new trail improvements at the Osprey Trailhead at Spring Hammock Preserve.
Spring Hammock Preserve is a 1,500-acre preserve in the heart of Seminole County and is home to the Seminole County Public Schools’ annual mud walk for 5th graders. The $2 million improvement project replaces decades-old stairs and boardwalks with safe, modern structures and adds a wide concrete ADA-accessible pathway, an ADA-accessible parking lot, and a new pavilion.
The project was funded through the One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny Sales Tax), the Natural Lands–Trails Bond Fund and the Land and Water Conservation Fund, administered through FDEP.
Seminole County proudly celebrated major upgrades at the Osprey Trailhead at Spring Hammock Preserve, including new boardwalks, a new pavilion, and updated bridge crossings for the "mud walk", a long-standing tradition for Seminole County Public Schools’ 5th graders.
