UCF VOLLEYBALL SPLITS THIS WEEK

There’s no better way to gauge the spirit and effort of a team than seeing their backs against the wall on the road.

On Wednesday night, the Knights stood up to the test. Down multiple match points and a set at Houston, Avah Armour’s 28 kills led UCF volleyball to a crucial Big 12 win, flipping the script in the fourth before taking the five-set thriller in a 17-15 tiebreak (25-23, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 17-15).

Nine kills from Houston native Reaghan Thompson and Sasha Cohen, along with eight kills and five aces from Skylar English, propelled the Knights down the stretch.

But the momentum did not carry over to Saturday as in a tightly contested Big 12 matchup, the Black and Gold fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in four sets at The Venue (25-17, 21-25, 18-25, 23-25).

The Knights (12-8, 3-8) started strong with a first-set lead but couldn’t maintain momentum against the Red Raiders (9-12, 1-8), whose offense found its rhythm from the second set onward. Avah Armour’s 27 kills led the Black and Gold, but it wasn’t enough to stifle the visitors' attack.

   Up Next:

UCF will embark on its longest road trip of the season, venturing west for a meeting with No. 19 BYU tonight (Wednesday) at 9 p.m., before a Friday night tilt with Utah at 9 p.m. All of the matches will be streamed by ESPN+.

UCF WOMEN’S SOCCER UPSETS #10 BAYLOR

Jada Silvest found the back of the net in the first half and the senior Rajanah Reed scored in the second half to lead UCF to a 2-1 victory over No. 10 Baylor (11-3-2, 6-3-0 Big 12) in front of a season-high 1,102 fans at the UCF Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

The contest marked Senior Knight for UCF, as six Black and Gold seniors—Hannah Boughton, Kayla Chatman-Haggerty, Haylee Mersereau, Payton Patrick, Rajanah Reed and Liz Worden—were honored prior to the contest.

On Monday, Worden recorded her first brace of the season to lead UCF to a 2-1 victory over BYU in the team’s regular season home finale at the UCF Soccer Complex.

Both scores came within the first 20 minutes of the game to give the Knights an early 2-0 advantage. BYU got a goal back in the 80th minute, but Black and Gold keeper Genesis Perez Watson and the UCF defense stayed strong over the final 10 minutes to secure the victory.

The Knights moved to 11-2-4 overall and 5-1-4 in Big 12 play with the victory while BYU dropped to 8-6-3 and 3-5-2 with the setback. UCF is now unbeaten in its last eight matches and has secured a spot to compete at the 2025 Big 12 Soccer Tournament presented by Allstate that will open play on Monday at TCU. Seeding for the tournament will be determined following Thursday’s regular season finale.

   Up Next:

The Knights will close their regular season by heading to Lubbock, Texas, to face No. 5/6 Texas Tech on Thursday at 8 p.m. at John Walker Soccer Complex. Seeding for the Big 12 Tournament will be on the line, as UCF will enter the contest in a tie for fifth place in the conference standings. All games will be streamed on ESPN+. The team will then head to the Big 12 Soccer Tournament Presented by Allstate with the Quarterfinals on Monday and the Semifinals on Wednesday (Nov. 5) in Fort Worth, Texas at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium and the Championship Game on Saturday, November 8, in Waco, Texas at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.

UCF MEN’S SOCCER CONTINUES UNBEATEN STREAK

As a team that featured 17 new faces entering the season has continued to find its on-field chemistry, camaraderie and rhythm with each passing week, the results have begun piling up.

Last Wednesday evening, it was the Black and Gold’s leading goal-scorer, junior Lilian Ricol, who produced the most prolific offensive display by a Knight this year.

The French forward powered UCF to its sixth victory of the season and fourth in its last five matches with his first career hat trick (scoring three goals), leading the Knights to a gritty 3-2 victory over the visiting James Madison Dukes at the UCF Soccer Complex.

Two assists by Gwendal Degorce represented the first two points of his collegiate career, while Clarence Awoudor, who entered the evening already leading the nation in assists, tacked on his 12th of the fall.

On Sunday, the Knights’ prolific goal-scoring tandem of Ricol and Awoudor linked up once again for a second-half tally as UCF settled for a 1-1 draw with Georgia State at the GSU Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.

The effort ensured the Black and Gold’s (6-5-3, 3-2-2 in Big 12) streak of unbeaten results reaches six straight dating back to Oct. 4, a span during which the squad has picked up 11 points in the Sun Belt table to ensure it remains in fourth place entering the league’s late slate of matchups Sunday evening.

Senior goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz went 3-for-4 on the afternoon in the aggregate, posting his ninth match with one or fewer goals surrendered through his first 14 starts this season. Muñoz also saw his season goals-against average dip to 1.21 while his save percentage climbed further to .702.

The Panthers (4-5-6, 2-2-3) struck first in the 68th minute, a score that was quickly answered by Ricol in the 71st to level the score at one goal apiece.

Ricol’s ninth goal of the season was once again created by Awoudor, who sent a free kick into the 18-yard box that was redirected past the Panthers goalkeeper by Ricol, extending his nation-leading assist total to 13.

   Up Next:

UCF will look for a winning result in its home finale against Coastal Carolina Friday at 7 p.m. from the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights will then head to Huntington, West Virginia, to challenge No. 9 Marshall at Hoops Family Field next Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. All games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

UCF FOOTBALL RETURNS TO ACTION

The UCF football team will start November with a noon kickoff, visiting Baylor in Waco this coming Saturday on ESPNU with Brian Custer (PxP) and Craig Haubert (Analyst) on the call. The time and TV designation was announced by the Big 12 Conference and its television partners Sunday morning as part of a six-day selection window.

The contest will be UCF’s first trip to Waco and the third all-time meeting between the Knights and Bears.

The contest will also be carried on the radio on AM740/FM 96.9 The Game (Play-by-Play _ Marc Daniels; Analyst _ Gary Parris; Reporter _ Scott Adams), with the pregame show starting at 10 a.m., and Spanish Radio: UCFKnights.com, YouTube.com/UCFKnights.
