PARKS AND REC MONTH

   The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed July as Park and Recreation Month in Seminole County. Residents and visitors are encouraged to celebrate by visiting Seminole County parks, trails, and natural lands to earn free limited-edition posters.

   Now in its third year, the Park Poster Challenge features artistic renderings of favorite Seminole County parks, inspired by the National Park Service travel posters of the 1930s and '40s. Participants can pick up free posters by visiting three Seminole County parks throughout July, taking a photo at each location, and presenting photos to staff at Red Bug Lake Park, Sanlando Park, Sylvan Lake Park, or the Museum of Seminole County History.

NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

   New Smyrna Speedway will be hosting an Open Practice this Friday for all divisions _ David Rogers Super Late Models, Pro Late Model, J&C Gradall Modifieds, Sportsman, E-Mod, Super Stocks, Ashley Homes JAX Trucks, Mod Minis, Black Jack Seal Coating Bomber A, Bomber B, Florida Southern Ground Pounders and 602 Tour Modifieds _ with Pits opening at 4 p.m. and practice from 5 p.m.-to-Dusk. Admission is $20 per person in the pits.

   On Saturday, New Smyrna Speedway will be hosting Family Fun Night: $5 admission featuring the "War On 44" Super Stock/Pure Stock Showdown.

   American Auto Presents the AOK GUNS Super Stock/Pure Stock "War on 44" and it will be an history making event! This "Open Rules" 44 lap feature event will pay $1000 to win and $100 to start with other bonus to be announced later on.

   Also on the card will be the Ashley Homes JAX Pro Trucks (25 laps) , 602 Mods (20 laps), Sportsman (25 laps), Black Jack Seal Coating Bomber A’s (20 laps), Bomber B’s (20 laps) and Spectator Races.

   Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with Division Practice from 3:30 p.m.-to-5 p.m. Ticket booths and grandstand gates open at 3:30 p.m. Heat Races are at 6 p.m., followed by Super Stock/Pure Stock Qualifying and Feature Racing at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket booths and grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m. (No Early Bird Discount). Heat Races are at 6 p.m., followed by Feature Racing at 7:30 p.m.

   Adult admission is $5 (reserved seating is $25, the top six (6) rows of the Main Grandstand). Kids 11 years of age and under are free of charge (MUST be accompanied by paying Adult to qualify for Free Admission). Pits - Members ($25), Non-Members ($35).

   The track is located at the corner of SR. 44 and CR 415, between New Smyrna, DeLand and Daytona.

ORLANDO CITY

   Orlando City SC (9-9-7, 34 points) played to a 1-1 draw against New York City FC (11-9-5, 38 points) on Saturday night at INTER&Co Stadium to extend its unbeaten streak to a season-high five games.

   Scoring Summary:

   * 53’ - Ramiro Enrique (Martín Ojeda) – ORL 1, NYC 0 _ After a scoreless first half, the Lions got on the board early in the second half. Ramiro Enrique gained control at midfield and led Martín Ojeda out on the right wing in the New York defensive zone. Ojeda dribbled near the top of the box and ripped a shot on goal that was redirected by Enrique and beat goalkeeper Matt Freese at the near post.

   * 57’ - Hannes Wolf (Alonso Martínez) – ORL 1, NYC 1 _ Just moments later, the visitors scored the equalizer after an Orlando turnover in its defensive third. Alonso Martínez gained possession at the top of the box and gave a lead pass to Hannes Wolf behind the Lions’ defense who snuck in a shot past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

   Next Match:

   The Lions will next break from league action for Leagues Cup 2024, set to host CF Montréal at INTER&Co Stadium on Friday. That match will kick off at 8 p.m. on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY PARK

   Volusia Speedway Park in DeLeon Springs/Barberville will return from a long layoff to host the “Summer Sizzler”, featuring the Top Gun Sprints, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, 604 Late Models and Thunder Stocks.

   Grandstand gates and ticket sales open at 4 p.m., Hot Laps at 6 p.m., followed by Opening Ceremonies and Racing.

   General Admission is $20, Seniors, Military and First Responder are $18 and Youth 12 & Under are Free. Pit Pass is $35 and Youth 12 & Under Pit Pass is $25. The Ticket Phone is (844) 347-8849.

ORLANDO PRIDE

   The Orlando Pride (0-0-1, 1 point) played to a 1-1 draw against the North Carolina Courage (0-0-1, 2 points) on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in the first match of the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup, with the Courage taking the extra point in the end-of-regulation shootout, 5-4.

   Scoring Summary:

   * 44’ - Manaka Matsukubo (Ryan Williams) – 1 NC, ORL 0 _ The home side opened up the scoring right before halftime with Ryan Williams sending a ball in from the right flank across the face of the goal that found the foot of Manaka Matsukubo at the back post for the tap in.

   * 82’ - Celia – ORL 1, NC 1 _ The Pride leveled the match late after Evelina Duljan found some space inside the box to get a shot off that was saved. The rebound fell to Celia who blasted a shot into the roof of the net for the leveler.

   Next Match:

   The Pride continue their run in the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup as they welcome Mexican-based side C.F. Monterrey Femenil to INTER&Co Stadium on Saturday. The match is set to kick off at 7 p.m. and can be streamed on Paramount+.
