On Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8 a.m., Bicikleta Bike Shop will host its 7th Annual Midway Community 5K Run, Walk and Roll and invites the Sanford community to join a fun-filled morning with other residents.
"Events like the Midway Community Day 5K remind us that when we come together, whether on two wheels or two feet, we make our community stronger,” said Brenda Urias of Bicikleta Bike Shop. “Every mile we share builds connections, supports local programs, and keeps Sanford rolling forward."
Each participant can decide whether to walk or run the 3.1 to mile 5 or roll with your bike the 3.1 mile family ride. There is also an option to join the 31 mile Bicikeleta Dash. Every mile supports not only Midway Coalition but also Bicikleta’s Get Sanford Cycling Program.
The starting point will be Midway Elementary School of the Arts, 2369 Brisson Avenue in Sanford.

If you are up for a longer ride, Bicikleta Bike Shop extends an invitation to join their Saturday Social Ride on the Lake Monroe Loop. This 28-mile ride will take you on an adventure around Lake Monroe, Saturday mornings. Meet up is at 7:15 a.m., Bicikleta Bike Shop at 229 Magnolia Avenue in Sanford. The ride starts promptly at 7:30 a.m.
According to Brenda Urias of Bicikleta there are two paces for this ride. Paces are based on average speed, not rolling speed: 15 to 17 mph or 17 to 19 mph.
Helmets are required to participate in this ride.
Urias added, “ It’s more than miles, it’s a community on the move. Roll with us around Lake Monroe for good miles, great company and epic scenery."
