SANFORD — The Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) capped off another amazing year with the monthly running of the Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race on Sunday, December 28.
And there was a little bit of a surprise as Patti Miller took the helm of Fleur de Mer III and outraced the ‘boys’, finishing nine seconds of Bad JuJu under the direction of Tony Porterfield and 6-1/2 minutes in front of Andy Forrest and Show Me which claimed third to round out the podium.
Miller and Fleur de Mer III was also first in Displacement Boat, while Porterfield and crew were the Planing Boat winners.
According to Bob Fellingham, who Captained Shajaira to a fourth place finish, “(We) had just enough breeze to start and get to the Gosling mark. Those of us lucky enough caught a ghost wind on the Western side of the course to finish. Good afternoon on the water with friends.”

With the 2025 race year in the books the LMSA has announced the first event for 2026 will be the January running of the LMSA Club Championship Series for the Hayden Trophy on Saturday, January 10, with the Skipper's meeting set for 10 a.m. at the LMSA Clubhouse on Marina Isle and the first start set for 10:55 a.m.
Following the racing, the LMSA will its after Christmas Party from 5 p.m.-to-9 p.m.
Coming up at the end of the month will be the first Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race on Sunday, January 25, and the first Ladies on the Lake Club Series race on Saturday, January 31.
The weekly Rum Race Series will begin on Wednesday, March 11.
