The City of DeBary marked a significant public safety milestone on January 9 with the official opening of its second fire station. The Mayor and Council Members were joined by State Senator Tom Wright and State Representatives Richard Gentry and Webster Barnaby for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Fire Station 39. Orange City officials were also on hand for the ceremony.

The City owns and maintains the fire station facilities and equipment, while staffing services are provided through a contract with Orange City.

The new station enhances emergency response times citywide and plays a key role in maintaining DeBary’s high Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating. A strong ISO rating directly benefits residents by lowering homeowner insurance premiums.

Fire Station 39 was constructed using funds appropriated in the 2022 State of Florida budget, and reflects a strong collaboration between state and local leaders to deliver essential infrastructure for the DeBary community.

“This station is more than just bricks and mortar – it represents safety, preparedness, and our strong commitment to protecting the residents and businesses who call DeBary home” stated Mayor Chasez.  “We are grateful for the support of our state partners and the community who joined us to celebrate this achievement.”

Following the ceremony, the station hosted a community open house, with more than 150 residents attending to tour the facility, meet firefighters, and learn more about the services provided from the new station.

The City of DeBary was founded in 1993. Located on the St. Johns River, the City offers a unique urban community, highlighting its history, ecotourism, and small-town living.
