Lawn Questions:

If your lawn is showing brown spots and patches, bring a sample in to the Extension for us to take a look! Samples should be about the size of a sheet of paper, taken from where the damaged grass meets up with your still green lawn. We want to see both the grass and the soil beneath it for best diagnostic results. We are not able to diagnose lawn problems from pictures.

Gardening Questions:

Take a picture and e-mail it to [email protected] or bring in your mystery bug or plant for us to take a look at. We can also take a look at diseased plants  and determine a course of action. Make sure your pictures are in focus, the higher the quality, the more likely we will be able to determine what has gone wrong or provide an identification.

Soil Questions:

We can do a basic soil test at the Extension Office for $2 per sample, and let you know what your pH is and what grows well in that pH range. We only do testing on Thursdays, but you can bring your soil samples in Monday—Friday. If you would like a more detailed test done, or want to know how to change your soil pH, we also have the supplies here for you to send your sample off to the University of Florida. You can also do this all on your own, just follow the directions on the UF/IFAS website https://sfyl.ifas.ufl.edu/agriculture/soil-testing/
