Oviedo Medical Center, part of HCA Florida Healthcare, recently announced that the HCA Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to HOPE Helps Inc. to help meet the growing demand for food assistance in the Central Florida community. This grant is part of the Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, a $75 million community impact fund designed to support innovative initiatives focused on addressing high priority community needs and health equity.

“We are honored to support this grant, which directly addresses an important community need and advances our mission of caring for and improving human life,” said Cameron Howard, CEO of Oviedo Medical Center. “Nutritious food is essential to building a strong foundation for lifelong health.”

HOPE Helps Inc.'s mission is to prevent and reduce hunger and homelessness in Central Florida by equipping individuals and families to become self-sufficient through housing, outreach, prevention and education. Its food pantry provides nonperishable food, produce, meat and fresh bread, four days a week at no charge for more than 200 families weekly.

“This impactful $25,000 gift from Oviedo Medical Center directly fuels our mission to build a healthier community,” said Joan Faulkner, CEO of HOPE Helps. “We are honored to have such a dedicated long-term partner. Their continued investment in our work proves that when local leaders unite, we can create a lasting, positive impact on the health and quality of life for the families we serve."

Funding the Healthier Tomorrow Fund at the HCA Healthcare Foundation is one example of the many ways HCA Healthcare is making a positive impact in the communities it serves. In 2024, HCA Healthcare provided charity care, uninsured discounts and other uncompensated care at a cost of more than $4.4 billion and incurred $7.2 billion in federal, state and local taxes. Additionally, HCA Healthcare continues to invest in the ongoing education and development of its colleagues and, as an enterprise, contributed $48.5 million to community organizations in 2024.

“At HCA Healthcare, we believe partnerships are essential to advancing our mission to care for and improve human lives,” said Deb Reiner, president of the HCA Healthcare Foundation. “Partnering with organizations like HOPE Helps allows us to do more for our communities than we can do separately.
