The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has installed new traffic signals at the intersections of West First Street (State Road (S.R.) 46) and Mangoustine Avenue, Persimmon Avenue, Aero Lane/Harvest Time Drive in Sanford.
The signals at Mangoustine Avenue and Persimmon Avenue are currently operating in flash mode and are expected to become fully operational in the coming days. The signal at Aero Lane/Harvest Time Drive will be activated at a later date.
Flash mode serves as a temporary alert to help motorists adjust to the new signal before it is fully activated. While the signal is flashing, drivers approaching the intersection should stay alert and proceed with caution. Motorists should yield to any pedestrians, bicyclists, or vehicles already in the intersection and ensure it is clear before continuing.
These new traffic signals are part of a larger FDOT project to improve safety and accessibility at several intersections along West First Street (S.R. 46), a major arterial roadway through the heart of Sanford. The project aims to enhance safety for those traveling through this growing part of the city.
Work on this project is expected to be completed early this year, pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For more information about these improvements, visit www.cflroads.com/project/447103-1. Photos of the new signals are attached.
