The City of DeBary is pleased to announce the launch of its new Business Façade Grant Program, designed to help local business and property owners enhance the appearance of their buildings while strengthening the overall look and vitality of the community.
The Business Façade Grant Program supports visible exterior improvements that improve curb appeal, attract customers, and contribute to a more vibrant DeBary. For this year's inaugural period, the Façade Improvement Grant is available for properties located within the Village Center Overlay District and the Highbanks Node Area.
Funding for the program comes exclusively from the annual Business Tax Receipts paid by DeBary businesses. No residential tax dollars are used for this program. Rather, the program ensures that funds collected from businesses are reinvested directly back into the local commercial areas they support.
“This program is about reinvesting in our business community,” said Shari Simmans, DeBary’s Economic Development Director. “By helping businesses improve the appearance of their buildings, we are strengthening our commercial corridors and supporting long-term economic vitality.”
The program is a 50/50 matching reimbursement grant. Grant awards range from a minimum of $1,000 up to $10,000 for single-tenant businesses or individual owner-operator establishments. In multi-tenant buildings, individual tenants may apply for separate façade improvement projects with the property owner’s written consent, for a maximum of $5,000 per tenant. Alternatively, property owners of multi-tenant buildings may apply for a single comprehensive improvement project for the entire building frontage facing the Public right of way, with a maximum grant of $20,000.
Eligible Improvements Include:
- Exterior painting and façade repairs
- Windows, doors, awnings, and canopies
- Exterior lighting and architectural features
- Signage and graphics that meet City standards
- Murals or approved public art
- ADA, parking, and site improvements
- Landscaping and related improvements
By supporting visible exterior upgrades, the Façade Grant Program helps businesses attract customers, enhance curb appeal, and contribute to a stronger sense of place throughout DeBary.
