Stetson forced 16 turnovers, scored 17 points off those miscues, and recorded 13 steals, marking the fourth consecutive game the Hatters reached at least 70 points. VALKYRIES SWEEP
The Orlando Valkyries (6-5), reigning 2025 Major League Volleyball champions, dropped their third straight match Friday night, falling to the Indy Ignite on the road, 3–1 (21–25, 25–20, 22–25, 20–25).
The Valkyries entered the contest shorthanded, without three key starters in Brittany Abercrombie, Chompoo Guedpard and Charitie Luper who were all out due to injury. The constant adjustments have become a theme early this season, as the Valkyries have rolled out nine different starting lineups through their first 10 matches.
With Naya Shime, Hannah Maddux and Hannah Pukis stepping into expanded roles, Orlando competed but ultimately finished the night hitting .160 as a team. Maddux led the offense with 13 kills, hitting .085.
One of the bright spots for Orlando came in the middle. Rookie Bre Kelley tied a career high with eight kills on an efficient .440 hitting percentage and added two blocks. Just two months removed from concluding her collegiate career at Pitt, Kelley quickly carved out a consistent role, making her sixth consecutive start Friday night.
But all of that came to an end on Sunday as the Valkyries were back in Nebraska to face the Omaha Supernovas (7-5) on Sunday at the CHI Health Center-Omaha and came up with a 3-0 (25–20, 25–17, 25–22) sweep.
Naya Shime led the way with 13 kills on a .278 efficiency, but the true difference-maker was Orlando’s presence at the net. The Valkyries’ block touches disrupted Omaha’s rhythm from the jump.
Up Next:
The Valkyries will take a week off before hosting the Columbus Fury at Addition Financial Arena Sunday at 4 p.m. The game will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
LMSA
On March 7 and 8 the LMSA goes back to the future with a two day regatta that includes buoy racing one day and distance racing the other day. In years past, the Trans Monroe was a 2-day event with buoy racing one day and a distance race around Lake Monroe the other. We've brought it back this year with the low score over both days being crowned the Southern Challenge Champion. Any class of 5 or more boats gets its own start and trophies and there's a Portsmouth class for everyone. The Trans Monroe Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Distance race.
Morning coffee and post race snacks are included and there will be a cookout at the awards on Sunday. Registration is Saturday morning and is $60. Click the to go to the NOR and reply to this email with questions.
Coming up this week:
The LMSA Club Championship Series for the Hayden Cup was held on Saturday and the February Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race is set for Sunday, February 22, and the rescheduled opening race for the Ladies on the Lake Club Series will be on Saturday, February 28, at noon.
