LITTLE LEAGUE

   It will be a case of deja vu in the Little League Baseball 12U Southeast Region at Warner Robins, Georgia, as defending Champion Tennessee, will batle Lake Mary for the second year in a row in the Winner-take-all final at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will be televised by ESPN.

   On Sunday, Lake Mary again used a big fourth inning, breaking open a 2-0 lead with back-to-bck home runs on consecutive pitches by Landon Bono and DJ Mieses to widen the lead to 4-0 and the Florida Champions went on to take down Tennessee, 8-1, in the Winners Bracket Final to dvance to Tuesday Championship Game.

   Tennessee, which knocked off Lake Mary in last year's Championship Game and advanced to the World Series, rallied from an early 6-2 deficit to tie Georgia, 6-6, with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to force extra innings.

   In the seventh, the squad from Goodlettsville exploded for five runs and eliminated the host team, 11-6, on Monday.

NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

   New Smyrna Speedway will be hosting the J&C Gradall Modified Challenge Series Twin 35’s today (Saturday).

   In addition to the two 35-lap Modified features, other Divisions in action will be the E Mods (25 laps), Black Jack Seal Coating Bomber A (20 laps) and Florida Southern Ground Pounders (20 laps).

   Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with Division Practice from 3:30 p.m.-to-5 p.m. Ticket booths and grandstand gates open at 3:30 p.m. Come early and get $5 off General Admission until 6 p.m. Qualifying for the J&C Gradall Modified Challenge Series and Heat Races at 6 p.m., followed by Feature Racing at 7:30 p.m.

   Adult admission is $15 (reserved seating is $20, the top six (6) rows of the Main Grandstand) with all seniors (65+) and military (with valid ID for proof of age or Military affiliation) admitted for $13. Kids 12-17 are $5 (No Early Bird Discount). Kids 11 years of age and under are free of charge (MUST be accompanied by paying Adult to qualify for Free Admission). Pits - Members ($25), Non-Members ($35).

   The track is located at the corner of SR. 44 and CR 415, between New Smyrna, DeLand and Daytona.

   * FUNDAY Sunday _ “All Welcome Test and Tune and Grudge Racing” with gates opening at 10 a.m. and racing from 10:30 a.m.-to-5 p.m. $20 General Admission (kids 10-and-Under free) or $35 to race.

   * Wheels Up Wednesday (August 7) _ “All Welcome Test and Tune and Grudge Racing” with gates opening at 6 p.m. and racing from 6 p.m.-to-10:30 p.m. $20 General Admission or $30 to race.

Events include Novice Jr. Dragster (6-9 year olds), Intermediate Jr. Dragster (10-12 year olds), Pro Sportsman Jr. Dragster (13-17 year olds), Jr. Street (13-18 year olds), Pro (No Box) ET, Super Pro, Quick 32, Pro Motorcycle and Sportsman. Gates open at 8 a.m. and Time Trials at 10 a.m. to be followed by Eliminations. Admission is $20 (kids 10-and-Under free).

ORLANDO CITY

   Orlando City SC (1-0-0, 3 points) will continue its Leagues Cup 2024 Group Stage schedule by hosting Atlético de San Luis from Liga MX at Inter&Co Stadium on Sunday. That match will kick off at 8 p.m. on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

ORLANDO PRIDE

   The Orlando Pride (0-0-2, 3 points) and Racing Louisville FC (1-0-2, 6 points) played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night in the final Group E matchup of NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. Louisville would take the extra point in the end-of-regulation shootout 4-3. With the draw, the Orlando Pride do not advance to the knockout stage but remain unbeaten across all competitions in the 2024 season.

   Scoring Summary:

   * 38’ - Evelina Duljan (Kerry Abello) – ORL 1, LOU 0 _ The Pride broke the scoreless draw just before halftime with a header from midfielder Evelina Duljan. Kerry Abello pushed the Orlando attack into the Louisville box before breaking down the defense. Abello sent a cross in to Duljan who beat her defender and headed in the opening goal of the match.

   * 67’ - Reilyn Turner (Emma Sears) – ORL 1, LOU 1 _ Louisville got its equalizer midway through the second half with a header of its own. Emma Sears got a lead pass on the outside and led an attack down the right side of the Orlando defense. From just outside the box, Sears sent in a cross and Reilyn Turner rose above the defense and headed in a shot from just in front of the goal.

   Next Match:

   The Pride will have a big break before gearing back up for the NWSL Regular Season. The team is set to travel to Houston take on the Dash on Friday, August 23. The match is set to kick off at 8 p.m. and can be seen on Prime Video.
