The DeBary Foundation has partnered with DeBary Elementary to enhance the school’s arts education programs by providing targeted funding and volunteer support for music and visual arts, with the potential to support theater initiatives in future years.
The collaboration will provide materials, equipment, and creative resources beyond the school’s existing budget, expanding access to high-quality arts experiences supporting student growth. Because DeBary Elementary serves the majority of the city’s families, the initiative is expected to positively impact 90% of DeBary’s children on a regular basis.
“Seeing a child light up through creativity is something special,” said Principal Stacy Gotlib. “This partnership increases those opportunities for so many of our students, and we’re deeply grateful.”
Research shows sustained participation in the arts strengthens academic performance, critical thinking, confidence, and social-emotional skills, benefits that extend well beyond the classroom. “When children have the tools to create and explore their talents, they gain confidence and skills for life,” said Foundation Treasurer Alicja Nutting. “We’re proud to fund opportunities beyond what school budgets can provide.”
The Foundation also envisions future support through recognition programs honoring student achievement and contributions by teachers and staff.
The partnership reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the community by expanding opportunities for DeBary’s youngest residents.
