Nathaniel Lee Williams, 74, Sanford, Florida was born, September 19, 1951, to the proud parents of Alvera Valencia Williams and the late David Lee Jones in Warwick, New York. He transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, Sanford, FL. He became a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where he attended and served faithfully until his health failed. He attended Seminole County Schools and Bethune Cookman University and was an avid sports player in his youth.
He is survived by his wife, Cherrie Williams, his mother, Alvera Williams Blocker (Reginald), daughters Leasha Nowell (Robert) and Angel Bass. Grandchildren Mariah McCray, Collin Parker and Cameron Lawson. Two great-granddaughters. Stepchildren Glenn Alexander Sr. (Shanta), Jaqueline McDuffie and Cheryl Grayson. Step-grandchildren Glenn Alexander Jr. (Paige), Christopher Smith II, Jasmine Trigg (Ryan), Shannon Smith (Rita), Javia McDuffie. Nine Step-grandchildren, a loving Godson Nathaniel June, beloved sister in-laws and a host of half-sisters, half-brothers and cousins across the nation.
Nathaniel touched the hearts of all who knew him, and he had many friendships beyond the ties of blood. Nathaniel coached and mentored many youths during his lifetime. He cherished many connections throughout his life in Florida, New York, New Jersey and Kentucky. He was affectionately known as Nate “21” Williams to his many friends and family as well as “Coach Nate” to many youths and will be sorely missed.
A Funeral Service to honor Mr. Nathaniel Lee Williams will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1843 Jerry Ave., Sanford, FL 32771. Calling Hours, 4 PM – 6 PM Friday, April 3, 2026, at A. C.
