DEWAYNE LEWIS ANDERSON Obituary

DeWayne Anderson was born on October 8, 1964, in Winter Park, Florida, to the late Zalie Baker Anderson and the late Robert Thomas.


 

DeWayne grew up in Sanford, Florida, before moving to Bridgeton, New Jersey, where he graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1982. He later attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1984, where he proudly served a four-year tour of duty.


 

After completing his military service, DeWayne returned to Florida, where he married and built a life centered on family and hard work. During this time, he raised his two children, Zalie and Nigel, whom he loved deeply and supported throughout their lives.


 

DeWayne later moved to Sacramento, California, where he continued pursuing his education and professional growth. He attended California State University, Sacramento, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Occupational Health and Safety in May 2013. Throughout his career, DeWayne earned numerous certifications related to OSHA and workplace safety.


 

On March 6, 2026, DeWayne succumbed to long-standing health issues while surrounded by his son and siblings.


 

DeWayne will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and love for his family. His legacy lives on through all who knew and loved him.


 

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Zalie Anderson, a loving and devoted son, Nigel Anderson; his daughter, and his granddaughter, Nya. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Deirdre Thomas; his brother, Derrick Anderson; and his sister, Deborah Anderson; his uncle, Willie L. Baker Jr., with whom he shared a very close relationship and who was a constant source of love and support in his life; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other beloved family members and friends.


 

Memorial services for DeWayne Lewis Anderson will be held at Lowman J. Oliver Event Center; 813 Pine Avenue; Sanford, Florida on April 17, 2026 at 11:00 am.
