Seminole County Retired Educators Association members came together on March 10, 2026, at Filomena’s Pizzeria in Lake Mary. Queen Esther Jones delivered an inspirational message before we enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet.
The highlight of the meeting was a presentation by SCPS Superintendent Serita Beamon, who delivered an overview of our district's continued overall success and expanded programs of emphasis. She also addressed how the district is investigating and implementing the use of AI, emphasizing safe, secure, and ethical use by teachers and students. Members of her staff came along to support her.
In this month’s Member Spotlight, Liz Randall was recognized for her literacy leadership. She has been nominated for FREA Volunteer of the Year. The stuffed animals that were discussed at our last meeting have arrived. They will be delivered to police and fire stations in Geneva, Oviedo, Lake Mary, and Sanford to help first responders comfort children during traumatic times.
Our next SCREA meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 12, and will focus on Community Involvement. If you are retired from the educational field (not just teachers), please consider joining our team.
